heady darkness
Another one of my favourites from my personal collection. I love Hong Jong Hyun in dark or black hair, but he seems to favour dyeing it a reddish hue if he is not working in sageuks. Ha. This video was taken sometime early last year. Not sure whether he was filming Scarlet Heart then, but his dark hair and floppy fringe seem to indicate that. He says in the clip that he was going to China for a fashion show. I like him in both longer and shorter hairstyles, but he is total hotness when he sweeps his fringe off his forehead a.k.a We Got Married. I’m still deliberating whether I prefer his barely-there half-smile which I find sexy, or his wide, shy smile which I find adorable.
Just a random, shippy thought. Yoona mentioned in Running Man she liked guys who look good with long hair… so Jong Hyunie fits the bill, no? I mean she did spend six months gazing at him styled as Rin and we all agree he looked glorious. And when he wasn’t Rin, he kept his hair longish, like how he appeared at the wrap party and the Instagram post in which he mentioned that Yoona took his photo, and Yoona was probably the first person who “liked” it since her name was right in front. Not too sure how Instagram works but I figure it is that way.

Oh! About that pic Yoona took and liked on instagram… I was about to ask if that a photoshoot? Yoona also posted a pic on the garden. And her staffs posted another pic of the three leads with their staff/managers… Seems like a promo photoshoot but I dont remember I’ve seen the result.
So in RM she said she likes men with long hair (Rin’s awesome mane of glory? Is that why she kept on fixing someone’s hair?), in Knowing Brother she said her heart flutters the most when a guy unexpectedly gives her utensils (cue that scene where Rin gave San the chopsticks), and she always says her type is well-mannered gentleman (Rin is THE epitome of that). I think it’s fair to conclude Rin is totally her type of guy — which is very understandable, lots of us can definitely relate. And since she also said HJH is like Rin himself… Well, let’s see how that will translate in real life lol.

I am still waiting for that photoshoot and/interview. Unless it is for their commentary or interview for the dvd.
I wouldnt read too much into that RM mention. I think it was assumed by Kwang Soo. Yoona has been consistent with her ideal type – gentleman, someone who she can communicate to about anything and who is loyal to one. The mention in KB that holds more weight. With this I think he ticked all the criteria. Throw in everything else Yoona’s preference mentioned before he also looks good in white, in a suit (in anything really), with long hair and one who pats her head, I am trying to not discount off anything else, he still fits in all the criteria I believe.
It evident in the wrap up party just how extra comfortable and close these two are. Thank you breathless.

Look out for when she fell onto HJH’s back when she was laughing over HJH apologising for enjoying her beauty all by himself.
Look out for when she clearly, audibly but gently tapped HJH’s back when she was laughing when the MC (who was acting as Yoona’s friend and trying to seduce HJH) said to HJH that HJH must be tired because “he (HJH) walked in his (the MC) mind all day long”. Hahaha!!
Both times HJH did not show adverse reactions whatsoever.
As if it’s natural for Yoona to do that.

Just like you, I also like his hair in WGM. When Yoona mentioned that he liked men with long hair, I also wondered the same thing. I mean, TKL was currently airing when she filmed that episode of Running Man. I thought her mind was still fresh after being in sageuk surrounded by handsome men in long hair haha hence her comment.

Although the photos are rather blurry and grainy, it’s obvious that Hong Jong Hyun and YoonA still seem to exude the mind-blowing chemistry they exuded in The King Loves, in my humble opinion.
Just looking at them look at each other or either one looking at the other is enough to make me squee. Hehehe!
And in the first photo in which Hong Jong Hyun held/took the microphone from YoonA, it looks like both his hands were over YoonA’s hand over the microphone! Squeee!! 😉
And YoonA’s body language seems to say she’s shy in front of Hong Jong Hyun…hehehe…these two…are they teasing us? 😉

black hair.. yes baby absolutely yes. he looks more dashing in black hair than the hue ones. and i always wonder what exactly his hair color is ? cause many places he has black but many other gold hair….
and abt his hair..mi just differ here.. i like his fringed hairstyle. that side hair lock…not sure why maybe cause it makes him more Rin like and Rin is HJH and HJH is Rin… so fringe is my preference.

You can so feel their chemistry even in the candid snaps. Amazing. They give off such a couple-ish vibe.
HJH looks different and he gives off a different aura depending on his hairstyle. For me, his current hair color and style makes him look younger, but I really love his vibe as he was extra sexy when he kept it dark and a bit long and parted, like in their post-prod party. The forehead exposure is just too sexy for my life! He’s like a slender black cat out to seduce anybody who crosses his path lol
His long hair as Rin is the stuff of my daydreams even today!! Heck, even when he was playing the resurrected Wang Yo, I diededed over and over! His notorious hairstyle circa Style Log season 1 was avant-garde and not many appreciated it, but I loved it nonetheless! (Okay so I basically love him regardless of how he looks like lol)
I also loved a look he sported back in WGM days, the hairstyle he had when they met with Hong Suk Chun. It was a bit thicker at the back and it drove me crazy!
I particularly don’t like it when the sides are thin, but I do wonder how he’d look like if he got a buzz cut in preparation for his enlistment.

I’m more intrigued as to why there are no pictures of them entering the restaurant. Im Si Wan came later and fans still managed to snap his arrival even when reporters didn’t. There have been instances that the actors skip the photo call and enter via another entrance, but I have a feeling Yoona and HJH were together before the party, and arrived together, too. It’s just not their outfits… it’s their hair too. Hahaha. They both had mussed up hair, like they just woke up and rushed to the party from somewhere else.

I was wondering if you have thought of the possible reason/s Hong Jong Hyun has fallen off the radar for so long?
With him being MIA and totally silent, I can’t help but wonder why.
You mentioned before that one possible reason could be he might be in negotiations with a new agency.
But I have thought of one other possible reason considering I can’t help but wonder since HJH has remained reticent about it.
I thought the reason could be HJH is trying to put the role he played in The King Loves behind him.
Actors need to adjust to different roles all the time and so if he continues to dwell on Rin in The King Loves through countless interviews and photo sessions, he may find it a challenge to adjust to a different role.
This is especially true for those who did a remarkable job in their portrayal of the character as HJH has done as Rin in TKL such that his fans and the drama-viewing public can’t stop talking or dissecting the character long after the drama has ended.
So perhaps HJH wants to avoid being put in a position whereby he has to continue thinking about Rin when what he thinks he needs to do is focus on his next role.
I don’t know. I’m only speculating.
Only HJH and God Knows why he is MIA.
Or the reason could very well be of a very personal nature…one involving romantic feelings for a certain someone…unresolved feelings…well what do I know?

In The King Loves, Rin is portrayed as someone who thinks he can’t have the woman he loves because he thinks he doesn’t have the right to love her or she is someone he says he cannot have feelings for.
Could that be the reason he is hiding now?

I cant believe production edited out seemingly many RinSan scenes more than what was already edited and aired. This is disappointing. Not just RinSan, SJN too was getting a lot of hate from Won/Siwan biased fans.
It is understandable for some fans to feel unhappy or dissatisfied with how things turned out in The King Loves based on the decisions made by SJN and PDs because no matter what SJN decide to do, there are bound to be people who will not be happy because the nature of life is this – we can’t please everyone, no matter how hard we try to.
However, unless we forget, allow me to kindly give a gentle reminder – SJN is the writer of The King Loves and she has every right to decide what she wants to show or not show.
Thus, we have to accept that fact and not overreact, for more often than not, over-reaction usually leads to undesirable consequences for everyone and everyone ends up being unhappy, angry, frustrated and full of hatred.
It is only a drama. As is the nature of life, nothing is perfect, nobody is perfect and so is the case with dramas.
Enjoy the good and wonderful and forget about the bad.
That is how we can lead happy lives. 🙂
When faced with such circumstances, it is beneficial for us to stay calm, take a deep breath and take time to think about the whole matter objectively.
It is not what happens to us that matters but our reaction to it.
We need to think about what is a beneficial reaction for us and others around us.
Let us avoid reacting emotionally but rationally and intellectually.
No doubt emotions play a part in such circumstances but we need to take a hold of our emotions and decide how to react such that we are not consumed by our emotions in the most negative ways. That is the reaction of fanatics.
We have to choose to become fans, not fanatics, because the connotation of fanatics is more negative than just being fans.
Bashing dramas and drama-writers are the work of fanatics and we need to discipline ourselves from becoming fanatics because it is so easy to become one.
We need to have the proper perspective.
Real-life from reel-life.
Let us not forget what is important and what is not.
Relax Fazila, nobody is flipping out. Yet. The script is not yet translated, all we have is some tweets from people who can understand it. I think we RinSan shippers are pretty tame, compared to our counterpart. Let’s wait for someone to translate it. From what I have heard the script is very detailed and what we got (the drama) was lesser.

I honestly actually felt that way same as Khaleesi’s post when I first read it though I decided to not react and leave it be. I brushed it off thinking that you @Fazila didn’t mean any harm. I can’t help noticing some tensed air in your replies to Khaleesi hence I thought I should step in since your initial reply was in response to mine. If I have interpret this wrongly, I apologise as I am not trying to stir anything up.
I echo @Khalessi, our side has been rational and tame almost the entire time, since the drama started to date.
My comment only intended to express how disappointed I am with the production team. I tolerated misleading promotional poster and the different versions with many rinsan scenes being edited out also the difficult times with other fans. To find out now after all the hate and critcisms of others have been wrongly directed towards the writer and some casts. I find it unfair and disrespectful.
My reaction is also because this is the second Yoona’s drama that got messy like this after K2.
Rest assured that I am still calm, rational and mature about and have not flipped out yet, if that is what you are worried about. I still will speak my mind about it.

Perhaps you might reconsider using words such as ‘Relax’ to someone if you do not intend say that the person is not relaxed. We should not blithely use words like that because it can easily give the wrong impression. Being more respectful in the words we use will go a long way towards keeping the peace.

I don’t think Song Ji Na wrote a bed scene or extra kiss scene in her script. There might be more in the novel though. The differences lie in mostly the nuances and little snippets cut out of the major scenes that could have made it easier for audience to get a better idea of what happened in between.
ah, thank you for answering this @breathlesssurvival, I was curious about this, actually even before those extra snipplets, most of the RinSan can see San’s growing feeling to Rin early on, but those extra snipplets could obviously make it extra clear for those that not quite see it before and it’s obviously a bonus for us if we have more episodes of TKIL
But one thing I believe that even if all those cut scenes was included in the drama, there’s always some that can still deny it, like how they did now, twisting everything to the point of fooling themselves, all just because they can;t accept the reality that their analysis since the beginning is wrong and now they blame that the real person’s acting is not good enough to deliver the message when it’s very clear that they are the one that overly analyze things.
I think it’s just hurt their pride so much to admid that they are wrong
