soo ho × young ro
I’m not in love with Snowdrop’s Soo Ho and Young Ro yet as a couple basically because they haven’t had much chances to act like one. But I do like both characters individually at the moment, and Episode 8 and 9 were huge steps in the romance department because it showed Soo Ho’s iron-clad control slipping progressively whenever he comes across a hurt, upset, endangered, or injured Young Ro.
His feelings for her run much deeper than that of hers for his simply because he is older, a jaded spy and has been living a dangerous life. Young Ro’s affection for Soo Ho feels very crush-like, hero worship (before she realised he was a North Korean spy) at this point but I’m hoping it will be written more substantively once she realises he is sincerely, hopelessly in love with her. I didn’t like the romance when it was sweet and innocent – found it pretty boring. But I like it a lot better now when there is more at stake, more risks, more complex issues to think about, and having to figure how to love and trust someone under such damning circumstances.
The thing is, I can’t see a realistic happy ending unless he defects to the South or they both elope and disappear half a world away.

I think Ji Soo has the best chemistry with Hae In among all his leading ladies. I love Kim Go Eun but I felt nothing when he acted with her in their movie.
