review: Hi! School: Love On Episode 6

hslo6_22

Heaven is where your heart is. So much happiness and smiles in this episode for us to reminisce upon, and to make up for the heartbreak and tears that threaten when the time comes for these beautiful two to part. Woo Hyun has absolutely fallen head-over-heels with Seul Bi and he ain’t shy about it. Anyone counted how many times Woo Hyun smiled and sneaked secret glances at Seul Bi in the 50 minutes?

WH pulls SB over to him without hesitation and she ends up somewhat on his shoulder. SB quickly moves away and stammers humans become weirder as you get to know them better. And takes off like a shot. WH intends to go after her but is stopped by SY, who says SB is flustered. WH wonders whether he was too direct in expressing his feelings and SY points out isn’t fair to confess to someone who isn’t yet ready. But WH shrugs that he thought the timing was perfect. HA! Love his cluelessness.

SB wonders why she’s feeling hot and her heart is racing. SY joins her and she apologises for lying to him about she and WH being cousins. SY just figures that she and WH are just tied up in some situation and that’s why they lied. Back home, SY is nagged by Stepmom for cutting his extra classes. SB and WH walk home in silence, neither knowing how to react in the face of such an awkward scenario.

YE and YN discuss WH’s declaration to SB, and is overheard by the other group of mean girls. Grandma plans a visit to the hospital but lies to WH she is off for a vacation. WH is annoyed that SB left for school earlier without a word. In school, their classmates gossip whether WH and SB are really a couple and KS clarifies that they aren’t cousins. WH just didn’t want them asking questions. WH arrives without SB but she soon turns up, and the boys wonder aloud how far have they gone as a couple. Seeing how uncomfortable SB is, WH tells the class to shut up. SB remains moody throughout class, with WH watching her worriedly.

SB scampers away after school, leaving WH in the dust. SY tries to warn him again, saying he’s only creating trouble for SB. But WH doesn’t give a fig. Hahaha. SB finds the shop closed and WH arrives to inform her Grandma has gone off for a vacation. He chides for returning first when she doesn’t have a key and she counters she intended to help Grandma. WH smirks that she is lying and when she protests, he states he now can tell when she is lying. I find it sweet he really isn’t pressuring her – he just doesn’t like that she is avoiding him.

Stepmom and SY have a talk and she promises that she’ll do her best to be a real mom to him from now on. She also assures him that he can meet his birth mom anytime he likes because she figures the other woman probably is missing him too. SB remains awkward around WH and acts all tired when she sees him. He responds she’s probably tired from running away from him. Hahahahahaha. SB mutters she isn’t avoiding him and WH doesn’t bug her further. Love SB’s BOYFRIEND dress – how appropriate. Heh.

Back in his room, WH texts SB “Goodnight”. SB is on the rooftop and stops herself from replying him. Her profile pic is the one she took with WH. Gaaaaaaaaaaah. So sweet. WH grouses that SB read his message but doesn’t want to reply. He heads up to the rooftop and finds her there. He grumbles that she is even ignoring him over chat and she fibs she just didn’t want to wake him up.

When she brings up his confession, he adorably covers his ears and chants about rejection. SB cuts in and says she isn’t rejecting him. WH instantly perks up and asks whether this mean she is accepting his confession. Awwww. He’s so earnest that it’s cute. SB admits she is confused at the moment and WH warily comments, “Don’t tell me you dislike me?”

hslo6_10

hslo6_11

SB immediately says that’s definitely not the case: being with him is fun and nice. WH is appeased and tells her he’ll wait until she is sure of her feelings for him. Ya know, he’s a cool guy. Hahahaha. Love him. And hey! They are being pretty mature about it all. WH continues that she has to stop avoiding him and she nods eagerly with a smile. WH complains it’s the first time she’s smiling at him today…..aisshhhhhh. Why so adorable??? And SB apologises. WH responds she can make it up to him by spending the whole day with him the next day. WH has a one-track mind, doesn’t he? He likes something and he just goes ahead full-steam.

The next morning, WH packs lunch and hollers at SB to hurry up: they are running on a packed schedule for the day. They kick off with WH teaching SB how to cycle – not like she needs any help. They have a picnic and SB praises WH for his cooking and cycling skills. Hehe. WH retorts he does everything well. SB sighs that she wishes Grandma was with them and says Grandma’s fortune-telling is pretty accurate since they are on a picnic. WH agrees, saying Grandma was right in predicting that he likes someone. AWWWWWWWWW. Help. WH’s directness is so swoony. They decide to call Grandma.

But Grandma is being delivered bad news by her doctor, saying her condition will progressively get worse. She holds back her tears as she chats with WH. SIGH. WH is going to be devastated when he finds out. And if SB leaves…oh boy. WH tells SB that Grandma sounds as if she is having fun. She hadn’t had time to take a vacation because she has been busy with the shop and raising him. But he’s going to pay her back for all her efforts starting now. SB compliments him that he is all grown up and he throws back that he has always been older than her anyway. They exchange smiles full of sunshine and happiness. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Sweetnessss. And continue to chill out. I like that last scene shot with the gulls and watery sunlight.

Dusk falls and the couple stop to take in a man proposing to his girlfriend in public. Later, WH covers SB’s eyes and takes her somewhere. An excited SB is a super cute SB. Anyway, it is a fireworks display and SB is enthralled. She comments that living in the human world can be very pretty too. WH divulges he took time to choose a good location for them to enjoy the view. Love a detailed guy. And he follows by saying he’s showing this only to her. SB returns that she’ll watch it well for him.

hslo6_18

WH grins cheekily (love it!) and says there’s a prettier way to enjoy the fireworks and clamps her head between his hands. SB yelps in pain and grabs his arms while she struggles. He tells her it’s looks nicer when one is in pain and SB says that he actually may be right. Hahahaha. He calls her silly and she flashes a dorky grin at him. CUTE. And well, WH smiles indulgently at her. He’s a goner, all right.

WH wasn’t kidding when he mentioned that the day was going to be a busy one. He searches the Internet for ways to get closer to a girl one likes and finds a method he fancies: cola, popcorn and watching a horror movie over a mobile phone. He does exactly that though SB wonders why they are watching it on such a tiny screen when they can use the TV. WH lies that it is scarier this way. Hahaha. Weirdo comes along and hits the main power switch of the house. HUH? He is trying to match-make them, yeah? For what reason? So that SB will choose to become human? Why does he want SB to stay human so much?

hslo6_23

WH faints twice in shock and fear. Hahahahahaha. I thought he was pretending at first but he really fainted. Heh. Meanwhile, bullies bully another boy and get caught by SY’s dad and Homeroom teacher. But Weirdo comes along to save JS and gang. Hmmmm. Sunbae knows by now that Weirdo isn’t a genuine human – probably an ex-angel or some other kind of celestial being. Anyway, back to our cute couple. WH brings out candles and plays music, prompting SB to say that it feels as they are in a drama. WH asks whether she is thinking of something dangerous again and urges to share what comes next. SB replies that kissing is next and quickly covers her mouth when she realises her slip. Hehehehe.

hslo6_24

WH clears his throat at that and says the next transition is usually the morning scene of the next day. Heh. I think SB’s drama knowledge is more accurate on this. WH turns in for the night and berates himself for fainting. If he didn’t, he would have been the ultimate cool and perfect guy. Oh honey… you are already perfect….The next morning, SB leaves a note that she has left first because of class duties. And she has made him fish rice rolls for breakfast. And it’s fish-shaped crackers on top of rice rolls. Hahahahaha. There’s even wasabi. Gaaaah. SB is crazy cute.

hslo6_25

SB gets a visit from Sunbae who hands a black note: it isn’t hers but taken from angels who turned humans. Sunbae notes she doesn’t look very happy. SB asks him why did those angels prefer to stay as humans, and he doesn’t answer her. She has to swear on the book within a week in order to return to being an angel.

SB gets distracted by the book and WH notices, though he can’t see the book. He thanks her for breakfast and said he ate it all up. SB thinks that her fish rice rolls must be yummy and offers to make them for him again. HEH. WH replies he’ll make them next time – she’s not supposed to play around with food. Their whispering gets them caught and though the teacher scolds them, they don’t stop smiling at each other. Oh man…this is too lovable.

hslo6_26

SB spots her classmate reading a book about a human falling in love with an angel: the book states that the angel became human after falling in love with a human. Well, it’s just a book but I suspect it may be somewhat true in SB’s case. Unless she knowingly exchanges her life for another human. YN and YE try to trap SB into something but it doesn’t work: it only makes WH more protective over SB and SY calling them childish.

WH and SY have another bathroom confrontation and SY gripes that if WH really likes SB, he should either protect her or stay away from her. WH fires back, asking him to clarify whether his interest in SB is love or friendship. SY doesn’t answer that but tells WH that he is only making things difficult for SB. WH states that if SB needs protecting, he’ll do it and warns SY to stay away. Whooaaaaaaa. I like, I like WH’s attitude.

Anyway, YN kicks up a fuss with SB again. After school, KS suggests he and WH go to the arcade and WH invites SB along. When she says she wants to head home, WH states he’ll do the same. Which annoys KS – now that WH has a girlfriend, he is abandoning his friends. Haha. SB assures WH she’ll be fine. She’s going to wash her uniform and watch dramas. And WH goes off to join KS. SB returns to the shop and finds out Grandma intends to sell the shop. She calls Grandma for confirmation and the older woman gives an excuse. But instructs her not to tell WH about it, leaving SB puzzled. Grandma considers calling Stepmom but decides against it.

In reality, KS needs WH’s help to sew dolls for extra money. His younger brother is on the school soccer team and needs new shoes and uniforms. Awwwwww. This is touching. WH snitches one and KS guesses it is for SB. WH retorts since KS knows who he is giving it to, he shouldn’t ask because it’s embarrassing. Hehehe. SB is conflicted as she stares at the black note. YN calls her and it is yet another trap for SB. She basically just whines the entire time, blaming SB for everything. SB assures her that if she remains sincere, WH will notice her one day. YN puts her phone in SB’s bag. Or did she swap phones? Dunno. Don’t care.

SB walks home and wonders whether one is only in love if he/she cries because of the other person. She meets WH and her joy at seeing him is infectious. When he asks her what she has been up to, she recalls YN’s instructions and lies she was just out for a stroll. He hands her the doll and she excitedly comments that now her sibling has a friend and won’t be lonely. WH orders her to hold hands and she mistakes his meaning: she thinks he is asking her to hold his hand. But nope, he is referring to the doll’s hand. His hands are too expensive. Hahaha. He grabs the other hand of the doll and they swing their way home. Heaven is really where your heart is…as our angel is finding out.

The OTP skinship is so darned swoony without being sexy. That firework scene was lovely – especially when he held her head and she clung to his arms. So natural, so comfortable, so wonderful. I keep re-watching the scene because of the OTP’s chemistry and how cute it was. WH is such a great guy and you can’t stop the boy when he is in love – preparing everything, from activities to food to even the best place to watch the fireworks.

You can’t blame SB for falling for him. Plus, he cares enough to agree to wait as she mulls over his confession. The rooftop convo was so well done in its straightforwardness and came across sensible and thoughtful. No tantrums, no fits, no demands just because the other party isn’t ready to give an answer yet. And WH getting all protective and territorial with SB is so manly….love, love, love. SY doesn’t really stand a chance, does he?

The thing is, there is so much angst on the way that I think my poor heart will burst when that happens. Especially when SB parts with WH – I’m going to sob, wail and bawl. I think SB is going to accused of stealing in the next episode and WH is going to take the rap for her. ARGHHHHHHH. Those bad kids.

Anyway, I mention it in every review but I’ll mention it like a broken record until the final episode. KSR and WH…their chemistry is so there and sparklingly engaged that they are blowing my socks, shoes and hat off. I keep forgetting KSR just turned 14 because she’s hitting it off so delightfully with WH. They are a total ace together in terms of emotional and physical connection, plus all those adoring smiles and love-struck gazes WH is directing to KSR are totally killing me. I know he’s acting but still…so, so, so to-die-for.
